About

Jordi Bernadó is a Spanish photographer with a keen interest in visual narration as a way to explore and interpret architecture and the city. His work stands out for its irony, originality and a great courage in experimenting with unexpected point of views. He won the Fotopres scholarship in 1993 and the Beca Endesa X scholarship in 2007. His photographs were selected for numerous public and private collections, such as those of Fundació "La Caixa", Fundación Telefónica, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Artium, MUSAC, Fundación Vila Casas, Banc Sabadell and Deutsche Bank Collection. They were also shown in many solo and collective exhibitions and venues in Spain and abroad, such as Artist Space in New York, la galerie VU' in Paris, Galería Senda in Barcelona, Filter Space in Hamburg, Museo Civico Riva del Garda, the Centre d'Art la Panera in Lleida, Fundación Telefónica in Madrid and in Fotografie Forum International in Frankfurt among others. Bernadó published over 20 books focusing on contemporary architecture and landscape. He collaborated with Barcelona-based audiovisual production company 15-L. Films for two short films: "Hello Ms. Hock" and "Hic Sunt Leones". While in the first film the photographer observes in video the poetics of Ms. Hock's art in terms of space and absence of time through an ironic and playful narration, in "Hic Sunt Leones" the presentation of a piece of architecture - the Mas d'Enric Penitentiary in El Catllar designed by Estudi PSP Arquitectura and AiB estudi d'arquitectes - becomes the occasion to explore in an intimate, delicate way the sense of isolation that is connected to some of the most intense experiences in human life, such as sin and prison.
