The Blink Fish

Look up at the sky of Milan, follow the climbers of the Vertical Forest.

The short documentary by The Blinkfish shows the Vertical Forest designed by Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca, Giovanni La Varra) in Milan from the unique perspective of the three tree-climbers that every four months fly around the “green tower”. Giacomo Boeri and Matteo Grimaldi, directors at The Blinkfish, catch a glimpse of the acrobatics of the three.

As the botanical climbers deal with the maintenance of over 900 trees of the residential skyscraper, hanging by the rope from the edge of the roof and jumping between balconies, the camera alternates close details of the residential tower with spectacular views and vertiginous shots of the skyline of the city.

The video makers aim at narrating to a wider audience the architects’ vision of an innovative model for a sustainable residential building, a project for a brand new metropolitan reforestation and the consciousness of the richness of the living ecosystem hosted by the Vertical Forest within the metropolis.

The short film, based on an idea of the Italian architect of the project Stefano Boeri, was showcased at the Shanghai Architecture Biennial 2015 and at the Chicago Architecture Biennal 2015.
